The couple exchanged vows at Tenuta Visconti, a nineteenth-century neoclassical farmhouse in the Metapontian plain, minutes from the coast and half an hour from the Sassi di Matera. For them, this wasn’t a venue search — it was a homecoming. The estate has belonged to their own family, the Doria-Visconti di Modrone, for generations, tracing back to the historic Visconti lineage that shaped northern Italy in the Middle Ages.

An estate with centuries of history

Ancient loopholes still visible on the facade hint at the estate’s defensive origins, while inside, vaulted ceilings and exposed brick create a warm, noble atmosphere. The Grand Hall and the old granary, traditionally used for large receptions, held the celebration on a warm summer evening, lit softly against the surrounding countryside.

The light did its part too: the long, golden light of a southern Italian summer evening, stretching across the old halls from around seven onward, turning a raised glass or an embroidered hem into something that feels almost timeless in a photograph.

Dress with a history of its own

One detail says everything about this day: the groom wore a suit passed down through his family, and the bride reworked her own mother’s wedding dress.
